KUALA LUMPUR: The Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) has announced plans to further grow its fund size by adopting TERAS 5 initiatives.

The fund which has achieved a record fund size of approximately RM159bil as at end-2021 aims to grow the gross fund size to RM200bil by 2025.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said: “TERAS 5 is very much aligned with the aspirations of the government to optimise the strengths of government-linked investment corporations.”

“At a time when markets are experiencing unprecedented volatility, I expect KWAP to strengthen its ability to facilitate more catalytic investments that directly benefit the Malaysian economy, continue to grow its fund size and equally important, elevate service levels for pensioners.” He added

TERAS 5 is a three-year programme based on elevating five enablers, namely Structure, Governance, People, Processes and Digital, that will drive eight workstreams including Organisational Structure, Enterprise, Investment, Contribution & Retirement Services, Digital, People & Culture, Corporate Services as well as Risk, Governance and Oversight.

In a statement, KWAP said TERAS 5 is also expected to help propel KWAP’s investments across a series of different asset classes, across the globe.

KWAP is the body that pays the government’s pension liabilities to government pensioners.
